Real-time, personal document summaries save time.
Our proprietary algorithms summarize and extract content from a document (web page, Word, PDF, etc). The extraction
is done in real-time; abstracts or summaries are not cached -- this avoids stale content.
A user can set options for the types of data extracted (key points, context, etc.)
Our SiteSnap summaries are uniquely interactive, allowing the user to "drill-down"
directly into a document's content (based on context) by reviewing multiple levels of display; i.e.,
short title, "abstract" with key words in context (KWIC), and full text with keyword highlighting.
This allows users to easily determine relevance to their need and also permits the user to review
an entire document within the SurfWax interface without having to open the underlying application,
such as Word or Acrobat. We believe this "planar" approach to research improves user association and
recall, and reduces use training which is important for users new to Web-based research,
such as young students. Search results can be detailed using the Facilitator option at
the top of the Search Result frame.
